Gagnon against cessationism

Of all the scholars I admire in theological wars, Robert Gagnon is easily in my top 5. He really carries the team in the battle against homosexualist apologetics.

So I was especially excited when I saw a write up of his against cessationism by pure accident (for the uninitiated, I am a Pentecostal). Read it and enjoy it:

Abortion is not the pre-eminent issue

Traditional Catholic organisations like Church Militant do well in exposing the corruption of the Roman Catholic Hierarchy. I was reminded of their attacks on Bishops who state abortion is not the pre-eminent issue in the US, chiefly Cardinal Blase Cupich and Bishop Robert McElroy (I cannot remember the exact video in which this happened, but their posture towards such Bishops is easily seen in their content, especially here). And these criticisms are more than noble, because countless within the Hierarchy are pumping the Vatican with progressive heresies, even from a Protestant perspective.

But what if I said that, on its own, the statement "abortion is not the pre-eminent issue" is actually correct?

Bringing Big-Porn to justice

A new petition calling for the shut-down of Pornhub and the arrests of its owners has leaped onto Change.org. It cites recent cases of girls kidnapped and forced to star in videos that were then uploaded to the site, one of whom was only 15.

This is excellent, I love seeing Christians actually call for destruction of evil institutions, rather than towing the libertarian 'muh free speech' quip. God's justice is being withheld at the behest of governments world wide, permitting these corporations of degeneracy to operate as if they were but sober businesses. The stars in these videos - male and female - are either willing participants in this evil, and thus should also face justice, or are threatened with all manner of abuses (financial, social, and physical) unless they degrade their bodies for the pleasure of their overlords.

But whenever I see these well-meaning calls for justice from Christians, especially on grave issues like pornography and abortion, I always stop and think, what do they conceive as justice?

Is it a fine and a shut down of the business? That's nice, but the persons themselves are not punished. They walk out of the court in clean suits and unblemished skin. They can just start a new life. Hell, they might even consider entering underground prostitution and dark web pornography. Either way, they can start their lives again as a regular person (assuming their wealth is even significantly hit), while their victims suffer still.

Prison time? Frankly, I despise the idea of prison as "justice". It's a glorified naughty corner, with all necessities and even some luxuries provided for those who destroyed lives, and those who even ended them. Ironically, many higher level prisons also perpetuate injustice, with the thriving of prison rape, assaults, and even murders. And what punishments result from doing such in prison? A few more years in the naughty corner maybe, perhaps in solitary confinement.

How often to people consider the principles of Hebrew law? Harsh as they appear, legal principles like lex talionis (see Leviticus 24:17 - 22) actually express a greater value of human lives than modern, supposedly "humane" laws. To murder a man was to forfeit your own life, to injure a man was to see yourself injured in like manner. What, then, is a fitting punishment for wealthy corporate oligarchs who build and perpetuate an entire industry of mass injury, sexual abuse, and death? A fine? A few years in the naughty corner?

Homosexualists are incapable of brotherhood

The title sounds hyperbolic and brash, but if you read this article by "freelance journalist" Alan Austin, and learn what I mean by "homosexualist"[1], it would take more mental effort to not agree with my choice of words. I only just stumbled on this old article yesterday, but it was a sharp reminder of the revisionist, frankenstein hermeneutics of homosexualists. One need only Google "Ruth and Naomi lesbians" or "David and Jonathan gay" to see how cherished these claims are among the wolves infiltrating the Church. Our friend at the ABC, Alan Austin, posits these same positions, if deceptively, as he never outright claims these as true, but always notes that "scholars say" or "some say" some fact in favour of homosexuality. Let's see what rubbish he brings us.

Upcoming Content

Now that I've made a blogger website, here's a short post to show readers what I have in store for the near future.

- An essay attacking Church-State Separation.

- A series on Biblical unity vs equality.

- An analysis of Luke 1:28 and the status of Mary.

- A gradually more regular series of casual posts, mainly political commentary.

The last point is actually among the most important to maintain, because major essay posts will take a long time to research, write, and edit (even longer than normal now that I have started a Masters degree). These smaller posts will keep the blog alive in between the essays. Hopefully, they will spawn small discussions in their own right, even if they are just my thoughts on news and topics on the spot.

I ask for prayers from everyone, that this blog is successful in its mission; to inform believers on the depths of their faith.
